How to Grow Agrimax Carrots:
Planting Location: Choose a sunny spot with loose, well-drained soil. Carrots prefer deep, sandy loam soil that is free of stones and clumps to allow the roots to grow straight and smooth. The soil pH should be around 6.0 to 6.8.
Sowing the Seeds: Carrots are best sown directly in the ground. Plant seeds about ¼ inch (0.6 cm) deep, spacing them 2-3 inches (5-8 cm) apart. Thin them out as they grow to allow enough room for root development, aiming for a final spacing of 3-4 inches (7-10 cm) between each plant.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, but avoid waterlogging. Carrots need steady moisture to germinate and grow properly. Water regularly, especially during dry spells, but ensure the soil drains well to prevent rotting.
Thinning: Once seedlings have emerged, thin them out to avoid overcrowding. This will help the roots grow properly. Thin to the recommended spacing to allow enough room for the carrots to develop fully.
Fertilizing: Carrots don’t need heavy fertilization. However, applying a balanced fertilizer or compost to the soil before planting can give them a good start. Avoid excessive nitrogen, as it can lead to lush foliage but underdeveloped roots.
Mulching: Mulch around the plants to help retain moisture and keep weeds at bay. Be sure to keep the mulch away from the carrot roots to avoid rot.
Harvesting: Carrots are typically ready to harvest in 70-80 days after sowing, depending on the variety and growing conditions. The roots should be firm, bright orange, and of the desired size. Gently pull them from the soil and enjoy them fresh or store them for later use.
Storage: After harvesting, store carrots in a cool, dark place with good humidity. They can last for weeks when stored properly.
